A CorrView
® monitor which has corroded through to indicate an alarm
condition may also provide valuable insight into the reason for its failure.
Its value may therefore extend past the function of just a corrosion monitoring
device.
Attached to its forward surface
will exist hard evidence regarding the type of corrosion involved, and whether
the failure is due to generalized corrosion, pitting, galvanic,
microbiological, or some other corrosion mechanism. Some evidence of deposits,
corrosion products, chemical by-product, and any microbiological content will
remain, and may even be captured through the penetration of the forward
wearable surface into the interior
cavity.
A thorough metallurgical and
microbiological examination of a spent CorrView ® monitor
therefore offers a valuable first step to identifying and solving any corrosion
problem, and may suggest other forms of testing or investigation to
pursue.

CorrView
Internation offers a complete destructive lab analysis of any worn CorrView
® monitor. In addition to this follow-up testing, CVI also
offers a full range of metallurgical and laboratory services including:
- Material
failure analysis
- Fatigue and
stress analysis
- Material
characterization
- Water
