CorrView International, LLC offers ulrasonic pipe testing throughout the United States. Our testing procedure rigidly follows the format presented on this Internet site, and provides the best possible evaluation of pipe condition, corrosion rate, and remaining service life available. In the overwhelming number of investigations, and given sufficient points tested, such investigation will provide a conclusive determination of pipe condition. For further detail please see Technical Bulletin P-7 regarding our ultrasonic pipe testing services.

Fees for ultrasonic testing are based upon the number of days of on-site testing, with this pricing also including the much longer time involved in processing the raw wall thickness data into a useful and informative report. Unlike most other UT testing services, we do not provide a 2-3 page spreadsheet of numbers for you to decipher into something that makes sense.

We typically charge $3,500 for the first day of investigation and $3,000 for each additional day, with travel costs additional. Assuming access to the pipe and assistance from building personnel to negotiate around the facility, we can typically address 50-60 separate examples of pipe within a single day of testing. The volume of data accumulated then requires approximately 3-4 additional days of analysis and report production back at our offices, included in the daily fee. Such fees translate to approximately $60-$80 per each general piping location tested. We have certified UT technicians in some larger U.S. cities which may eliminate travel costs, but in some cases, some travel expenses may apply.

Typical UT testing costs will range between $3,500 and $10,000 - the equivalent of cutting out and metallurgically testing 1-3 pipe samples. Two copies of the final report are provided with each investigation. Review a sample ultrasonic report. We recommend focusing on at least 25 test areas at any one piping system, for example at exclusively the condenser water system, in order to provide engough raw data to produce a representative and reliable final report.

Typically, 50-60 individual locations can be tested during a normal work day - with our progress generally determined by the building and piping layout, insulation, accessibility, pipe quality and condition, and on-site assistance. A thorough piping evaluation for the condenser water system of a 35 floor office building, for example, will typically require 2 days of on-site ultrasonic testing, five days of analysis and report preparation, and cost in the range of $5,500 - $6,000, including the final report. Pricing for out-of-state work is generally dependent upon travel costs and time. Some rough cost estimates for different U.S. cities are:

  • New York / New Jersey - $3,500
  • Boston - $4,500
  • Washington, D.C. - $4,500
  • Ohio - $5,000
  • Virginia, North Carolina - $5,000
  • Chicago - $5,500
  • Miami - $6,500
  • Dallas / Houston- $6,500
  • Los Angeles / SF - $7,000
