Submitting A Pipe Sample For Testing

Failed Pipe Section?  Don’t Throw It Away, Send It To CorrView For A Full Statistical Analysis

For multiple reasons, it is not always possible to perform a full on-site ultrasonic investigation.  The pipe may have already been removed, a field visit may not be possible, or a very specific area of interest has already been defined.

On top of providing an excellent ultrasonic testing service to our clients at their buildings, we provide the same detailed analysis at sections of pipe submitted to our office.  This is a flexible way to help clients who can’t always facilitate a full on-site investigation, or address issues with difficult tenants, high-security areas, or safety hazards.

While never as thorough and informative as a full on-site ultrasonic investigation typically addressing 50 or more examples of pipe, pipe samples sent to our offices can be evaluated using the same procedures as we utilize in the field.   We can provide the same statistical analysis covering the following parameters:

  • Average and lowest measured wall thickness
  • Theoretical lowest wall thickness based upon pitting conditions
  • Minimum acceptable wall thickness based on operating conditions
  • Average, lowest, and theoretical based corrosion rates
  • Average, lowest, and theoretical based remaining service life
  • Fitness for service assessment

Please give us a call at any time.  Sample submission requires the completion of a simple questionnaire for each pipe section, with results available within about 7 days of receipt.
